Knowing the Galois group, to which an algebraic equation belongs,
may simplify the solution of the equation considerably. Up to the
present, however, known methods to find the pertinent Galois group
took more work than even the most complicated solution of the equation.
For the first time, the general method of finding easy-to-use criteria
for the applicability of certain Galois groups is explained
and applied to a surprising example.

bifurcations, Galois theory
