NONLINEAR PHENOMENA IN COMPLEX SYSTEMS
An Interdisciplinary Journal

2010, Vol.13, No.1

Preface

Ten years has passed from the date when the first issue of the international scientific journal "Nonlinear Phenomena in Complex Systems" (NPCS) appeared in the end of 1998. The initiative to issue the journal of such a scope was originated from professors V. A. Gaisyonok and V. I. Kuvshinov which were chairmen of annual seminars "Nonlinear Phenomena in Complex Systems, "Synergetics" and School-Conferences "Foundations and Advances in Nonlinear Science" held in Belarus during years by Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian State University, and at that moment the director of Publishing House "Education and Upbringing", and now editor-in-chief of this company and associate editor of NPCS professor V. P. Parkhomenko.

From the very beginning the journal NPCS is published in English.

The journal is quarterly, each issue's size is a bit more than 100 pages. Founders and publishers of the Journal are Publishing House "Education and Upbringing", the Belarusian State University, two institutes of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus: Institute of Physics and Joint Institute of Energetic and Nuclear Researches - "Sosny", the Belarus Republican Foundation of Fundamental Researches. From the very beginning the NPCS Journal is published with a support of the Centre of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics of the University of Maribor, Slovenia in the name of the director, professor Marko Robnik. Editorial and Advisory Boards of the Journal include known scientists almost from 20 countries all over the world. The Coeditors-in-Chief V. A. Gaisyonok and V. I. Kuvshinov, deputy editor G. G. Krylov, managing secretary H. V. Grushevskaya and editor responsible for issues L. F. Babichev, ensure inflow of scientific articles into the Journal, reviewing procedure smooth running and full step preparation to the creation of future issue of NPCS Journal. Reviewing is conducted in accordance with international scientific rules.

Journal WWW-site in Internet has been visited by more than one million times, approximately of about 400 queries per day. Wide popularity of the Journal abroad is ensured also by four international mirrors of NPCS Internet WWW-site: at Centre of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics of the University of Maribor (Slovenia); in Joint Institute of Nuclear Researches in Dubna (Russia); at University of Pennsylvania (USA) and in Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University (Kyoto, Japan).

NPCS Journal appeared as an effect of activity formed in Belarus school on nonlinear dynamics, synergetics and theory of self-organization that has need in scientific publications of the results, including materials of conferences and seminars, in the specialized journal. Scientific researches in the field of nonlinear dynamics which is one of most quickly developing fields of modern science, are perspective and actual. The NPCS Journal plays an important role in development of the interdisciplinary researches led in scientific organizations in Belarus, and in support of prestige of the Belarus science in the world.

NPCS Journal subject fields is represented by papers in physics of open systems, classical and quantum physics of phase transitions, matter with intensive radiation fields, high energy and particle physics, non-Markov processes, quantum kinetic theory of mediums with multilevel pumping etc. In the Journal are presented materials on nanotechnologies and nanostructured materials in application to nanoelectronics, quantum parallel computations, as well as simulations with the use of the theory of differentiable varieties, modern theory of differential equations and stochastic analysis, methods of the functional integration. The publication of papers devoted to examinations of a role of correlations in origination of dynamic instability of structures of the various nature, favourably accentuate its from other known analogous journals.

The Journal gains the increasing popularity among specialists. Papers of scientists from 40 countries have been published in NPCS Journal, namely from Austria, Algeria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Egypt, Israel, India, Jordan, Iran, Spain, Italy, China, Korea, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Romania, the USA, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, France, Chile, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan. NPCS Journal issue has been noted by world academic community by "Nature" Journal review, where it was described as a sort of "Physical Review" Journal for countries of Central and Easten Europe (see Nature, V. 407 from September, 27th, 2000). NPCS Journal has received the honorable status as "Recognized by the European Physical Society". It is an only journal in the CIS countries, gained such a status.

NPCS Journal is qualification journal of the Higher Certifying Commission of Belarus for publication of the paper countable to query for PhD degree in physics and mathematics.

To its ten years' anniversary the Journal was grown into the international Forum for nonlinear physics and nonlinear dynamics of complex systems in nature and society. For the time passed the audience of readers and subscribers of Journal have been formed and continue to grow both in Belarus and abroad.

The Journal "Nonlinear Phenomena in Complex Systems" is a possibility for a wide range of readers to open for themselves an competent source of new knowledge in the field of nonlinear science: from brilliant guesses and hypotheses to the analysis at top most level, accessible today. As any other scientific periodical, our journal ensures the exact, accessible and opportune information, important in science, technics and business.

Coeditors-in-Chief
