Physics Challenges and Technical Concept of the Multipurpose Detector at JINR NICA Collider.
V. Nikitin

JINR plans to construct ions collider and start experimental study of hot and dense QCD matter. It is produced in heavy ions collision at high energy. Investigation of hot and dense nuclear matter is a challenging task in modern physics. It allows a search for possible manifestations of the transformation of nucleons into deconfined state of quarks and gluons, provides information on the nuclear matter equation of state, in-medium properties of hadrons, search for chiral symmetry restoration, phase transition, mixed phase and critical end point. It may sheds light on the evolution of the Early Universe and formation of neutron stars. The study of polarization phenomena in few-body nucleon systems with use of the polarized beams is also one of the physics challenges of the collider.
Key words: ion collider, multipurpose detector, collective phenomena, quark-gluon plasma
