2011, Vol.14, No.3
The first International Conference "Interdisciplinary
Research and Future Technologies" (IDRFT'2011) took place in Minsk
May 16-18, 2011. The idea of the Conference was to give an
instrument for active researches working in many interdisciplinary
fields to present their new results and to provide a venue for a
free discussion. The background for the meeting was provided by
the new State scientific program "Interdisciplinary Researches
and Emerging Technologies as a base of stable innovation
development" ("Convergence"), launched this year. In accordance
with the main trends of technological evolution ("More than
Moore", intellectual instead of information technologies,
development of cognitive technologies) interdisciplinary character
of research is a principally important feature of modern natural
science. During IDRFT'2011 there were presented 74 oral talks and
49 poster reports. A full conference program can be found on the
web-site

This volume of NPCS presents a collection of the papers reported
at the IDRFT'2011 meeting. There were three sections at the
meeting - Quantum technologies at atomic, molecular and photonic
levels; Cognitive technologies; and Nanobiostructures and
nanotechnologies for biomedical applications. Following the
abovementioned sections, the papers of the special issue are also
collected in the corresponding sections.
I hope that the present special issue will help scientific
community to get important information on up-to-date results of
interdisciplinary studies.

the IDRFT'2011 chairman,
the Editor of the special issue
