Travelling wave model has been used to describe Q-switched regimes in Nd3+:LSB laser with Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber. It has been shown that initial transmission is not a universal characteristics of the saturable absorber. For the same initial transmission, the usage of thinner absorbers with higher concentration of Cr atoms turns out to be energetically more preferable.
