The features characteristic for polarized multiwave mixing of singular and Gaussian light beams in dye solutions are studied theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that in the scheme of polarization holography the topological charge transfer to the diffracted wave is independent of the polarization state of interacting waves. The interaction efficiency is examined depending on the angle between polarization planes of the waves recording a dynamic hologram. The relationships between the polarization state of a diffracted wave and polarization of the waves involved in the interaction are demonstrated. The possibility to control the diffracted wave polarization state that may be smoothly changed from linear to circular polarization is revealed.
