Theoretical Investigation of the Radiation Pressure Force Acting on a Spherical Nanoparticle Located in the Laser Radiation Field.
D. V. Guzatov, L. S. Gaida, and A. A. Afanas'ev

In this work the radiation pressure force acting on a spherical dielectric and metal nanoparticle located in the field of laser radiation (the Gaussian beam) was investigated theoretically. It is shown that the components of the radiation pressure force act effectively on a nanoparticle located within the Gaussian beam in the region not exceeding its waist; this region is centered around the beam axis. It is shown also that the absolute values of the components of the radiation pressure force in the case of metal nanoparticle may exceed the absolute values of analogous components for the dielectric nanoparticle of the same size up to ~ 10 times and more, that is caused by the higher polarizability of a metal nanoparticle in comparison with the dielectric one.
Key words: radiation pressure, Gaussian beam, nanoparticles
